What Sydney.tips collects, does not collect and retains when you browse, search, check weather or submit a correction.
Sydney.tips is designed to work with minimal data collection. Browsing editorial pages does not require an account.
Anonymous site events
The site may record daily aggregate counts for a small allowlist of useful actions, such as opening the weather page or using internal search. These custom events do not contain the search term, page URL, form contents, email address, full IP address or an individual timestamp.
Search, weather and external links
Internal search is processed by the site and search terms are not written to custom analytics. Weather requests are made server-side to the configured provider and cached. Following an external link sends your browser to another organisation whose privacy rules apply.
Contact submissions
A contact message includes only the fields you choose to send and is placed in a private editorial queue so the issue can be assessed. It is not sent to analytics and is not used for marketing. Avoid sensitive information. Reasonable technical and editorial retention is applied, and obsolete messages should be deleted during maintenance.
